2 MOL-operated Vessels Earn 2021 ‘Best Quality Ship Awards’- Japan Federation of Pilots’ Association Honors Safe Operation Measures –

Source: MOL On July 1st, MOL announced that the Japan Federation of Pilots’ Association (JFPA) has presented its Best Quality Ship Award for fiscal year (FY) 2021 to two MOL-operated vessels—the LNG carrier LNG SATURN and the bulk carrier TAIYO. The award was founded in 2003 to raise awareness of port and ocean environmental protection through safe operation of vessels, and is presented to “excellent vessels from the viewpoint of pilots,” as selected by the JFPA. For the FY2021 awards, seven vessels, including the two operated by MOL, were selected from among those requesting pilot operations at pilotage districts throughout Japan. To date, more than 20 vessels related to MOL have received this award. For FY2021, JFPA conducted a comprehensive evaluation to assess efforts to properly maintain nautical equipment and boarding equipment, safety measures, and establish a cooperative system among crewmembers, including captains, for pilots who guide the vessels. The results of this evaluation led to the selection of the winning ships. As MOL forges ahead to become the world leader in safe operation, it continually strives to contribute to marine safety and conservation of the global environment, as a synergistic, sustainable company that grows in harmony with society. Industry-leading digital services rolled out at APM Terminals Valencia

Source: APM Terminals APM Terminals has implemented its industry-leading global container tracking solution in Valencia. IATA: Statement on CAA Decision on Heathrow Charges

Source: IATA “It’s two steps back and eventually one step forward. While it’s good that charges will slightly fall in the long term, the reality is that the UK’s competitiveness, passengers and airlines need help now. And right now, charges are initially going up by a staggering 56% compared to 2021. This is based on false assumptions that are already being proven wrong by the strong post-pandemic demand for travel. Independent analysis has shown that charges could fall today, while still protecting investment and a generous rate of return for Heathrow. The CAA must stop rewarding this monopoly whose insatiable desire to gouge its customers will damage the competitiveness of ‘Global Britain’. Unless the CAA takes the opportunity to protect today’s consumers, the whole process should be reviewed,” – shared Willie Walsh, IATA Director General.

Port of Hamburg: World’s first climate-neutral container handling facility recertified

Source: Port of Hamburg Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA)’s Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA) has once again received certification as a climate-neutral company from TÜV NORD. This highlights CTA’s pioneering role in the industry as a sustainable, innovative company. In 2019, CTA was the first container handling facility in the world to receive climate-neutral certification. The Chairwoman of HHLA’s Executive Board, Angela Titzrath, explains: “CTA’s renewed certification once again demonstrates the terminal’s innovative strength. While we are already celebrating CTA’s 20th anniversary this year, we are very proud that the terminal has been considered a pioneer for innovation and sustainability in the sector since 2002 and is continuously being developed further. Our technological excellence as well as process efficiency make climate-neutral container handling possible, and we are thus moving closer to our goal of becoming climate-neutral throughout the Group by 2040.” During the certified period from January to December 2021, CO2 emissions at CTA decreased significantly by 26.3 percent to approximately 11,000 tonnes. This development resulted in particular from a considerable reduction in diesel consumption due to the ongoing conversion to all-electric automated guided vehicles (AGVs). Nearly 90 percent of the AGVs in operation at CTA now run on green
