Now, as COVID-related travel restrictions are eased, flight operations are ramping-up and the focus needs to be on ensuring we maintain the same high levels of safety and efficiency. Accelerating the network efficiency: strategic collaboration between Maersk and APM Terminals

Source: APM Terminals A remarkable asset turn and operational efficiency improvements have been achieved over the past quarters on the West Africa network – with Fixed Berthing Windows (FBW) being one of the key, high-impactful levers. FBW was first launched mid-2021 at APM Terminals Apapa, then introducing it at West Africa Container Terminal (WACT) in Onne, Meridian Port Services (MPS) in Tema and APM Terminals Nouakchott later in 2021/22. Fixed Berthing Windows have been made possible due to a strong collaboration between teams, creative network solutions and focused execution. FBW has enabled a reduction of deployed capacity by 15%, while slightly increasing carrying capacity – thus allowing TEU saved capacity, improved productivity and reduction in the vessel waiting time. In these extraordinary times, capacity is priceless and asset turn improvement is critical for the success of the company strategy. The company is continuously receiving positive feedback from the customers. Sunxiuwu, Huawei, says: “Fixed berth window is a big innovation and  improvement. From that,  the international leading time from China reduced more than one month. The time saving can drive project delivery completion as earlier as possible and bring lot of profits for Huawei customer, like MTN, Airtel etc. Therefore, more

Port of Rotterdam: Green hydrogen economy in the port of Rotterdam, not for a distant future but a current necessity

Source: Port of Rotterdam Column by Jeannette Baljeu, Member of the Board of Gedeputeerde Staten, the executive committee of the Province of Zuid-Holland: Worldwide developments can immediately be felt in the port of Rotterdam. This is what I like so much about this area: the dynamics, the capacity as well as the necessity to adapt quickly, you can almost feel it. The world around us is now also in full swing. The importance of being less dependent on both gas import from one country and the sustainable ambitions of Europe come together in Rotterdam. Suddenly, the green hydrogen economy is no longer for a distant future, but current and necessary. This urgency means that we together – both the business sector and the government – have to set to work more quickly and more ambitiously, with more daring. Otherwise, the world will overtake us.  As alderman of Rotterdam and member of the Provincial Executive of the province of Zuid-Holland, I have been involved in the Rotterdam Port area for almost 12 years. If you follow the port from the city to the Maasvlakte, you will see the historical line building up. Developments follow on from each other in rapid succession
